Description
Each winter, this busy town crossing becomes heavy with the weight of merry footfall, with a myriad of souls burdened by the impending darkness but who, once or twice a year, congregate here at this bridge, seeking warmth from each other. The river flows beneath this collection of souls, and forever it shall, no matter whether, this time next year, they are on this bridge no longer, no matter whether, by that time, the darkness has finally fallen like a shroud over the town.
Encounter Hook
As the party begins to cross the bridge, wrapping themselves up against the wintry elements, thinking perhaps of where to find solace around a hearth somewhere near, the already cold air suddenly feels coated in a harder frost, as from the depths of the river below rise shadows, themselves intent on wrapping themselves around any in their way. Thing is, the most observant in the party might take note that the populace of the town on either side of the bridge have, en masse, stopped as though frozen, their eyes glaring sightless towards the party.
