The Chaos Card Deck TTRPG is in the process of being playtested. This is an old school inspired game contained entirely within a deck of cards. The deck has everything you’ll need to create a fantasy tabletop roleplaying game one-shot session, or even the kernels of a longer campaign if that’s what’ll float your boat.
what's all this about chaos?
The rules of the game are basic. You can play it solo or with others. Whoever’s playing should be able to pick up the rules quickly. Using random tables or decks, you should find that the mechanics of the game won’t get in the way of narratives, explorations, and battles. In mere minutes, you’ll be able to whip the deck from your pocket, to set up a scenario, to generate characters, and to kick off with gusto onto the crumbling path towards chaos.
This Playtest Pack is shared with you for FREE, as will the final game in pdf form as well as online on a new dedicated website being set up. The physical card deck will be available to pick up on that site and on here. The plan is to release the game along with a first adventure in zine form, which again will be available for free online or available for purchase on the sites.
what's in the playtest pack?
In your FREE pack, there is the draft deck, a downloadable draft character sheet which will hopefully end up being fillable online (so any ideas on how to do that would be much appreciated), and three generic maps of the setting.
There are also playtest feedback forms. It would be super helpful, and very much appreciated, if you took some time to leave some feedback once you've read or played the draft game. The forms are divided into one for GMs running the game, one for players in a group, and one for solo players running it on their own.
All feedback is welcome, and as the game's in playtest mode right now, changes WILL be made to it before final release. So please try to leave constructive thoughts that can be worked with.
when's the game being released?
Hopefully in time to be formally launched at Tabletop Scotland 2026, which is in September. It may be available for pre-order before then, again on this site and the new one being set up at the moment.
