Description
Perched at the edge of a sheer cliff face beyond a dense forest, lies a remote keep. Having stood here for centuries, it has been besieged and rebuilt countless times, its 'ownership' changing hands over the years. At the moment, within the safety of its fortified walls resides a self-sustaining community. But its populace have been on edge of late, as attempted raids and incursions in recent weeks have turned their minds more to survival than to living out a pleasant life. If only they understood why the keep was built in the first place, all those years ago.
Encounter Hook
On arrival to the keep, the party may encounter a populace very much at the end of their tether. They may seek its help in scouting the creatures that have been attacking the keep in recent weeks, in attempting to locate where they hail from, and perhaps also what they might want or need. But then an attack might happen just as the party hear of the perils it might face in such an endeavour. Is there something within the keep, perhaps underneath it, that draws the creatures to it? Or is there something else afoot?
